Abstract
Interns attitude on breastfeeding and baby-friendly hospitalAim: Promoting awareness is an important pillar in encouraging breastfeeding. This study was carried outto determine the interns level of knowledge and awarenessabout breast milk and baby-friendly hospital.Material and Method: The study was performed on 96 interns in Selcuk university faculty of medicine whoagreed to participate. Fifty seven percent of participants were males. The data were obtained by applyinga questionnaire. Results: The interns rate of correct answers about various properties of breast milk andbreastfeeding varied between 2% and 96%. Only half of the interns knew the correct breastfeeding technique.The percentage of those knew the requirements for baby-friendly hospital was 31%. The rate of awarenessabout the breastfeeding policy of the hospital they study was only 11% among interns. Conclusion: Theknowledge level of interns about breastfeeding practices is low. Increasing knowledge and awareness ofinterns about this subject may contribute to extension and maintaining of breastfeeding in community

Abstract
Amaç: Anne sütünün teşvikinin önemli bir ayağı farkındalıktır. Bu çalışma intörnlerin “anne sütü” ve “bebek dostu hastane” konularında bilgi ve farkındalık düzeyini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, 2010 yılında S.Ü. Meram Tıp Fakültesinde çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden % 57'si erkek 96 intörn üzerinde yapıldı. Veriler 19 soruluk bir anket formu uygulanarak elde edildi. Bulgular: İntörnlerin anne sütü ve anne sütü ile beslemenin çeşitli özelliklerini % 12-% 89 oranlarında doğru olarak bildikleri belirlendi. İntörnlerin sadece yarısı doğru emzirme tekniğini bilmekteydi. Bebek dostu hastane olunabilmesi için gerekenleri bilenlerin oranı % 31'di. Eğitim aldıkları hastanenin emzirme politikasını bilme oranı ise sadece % 11'di. Sonuç: İntörnlerin anne sütü uygulamalarına yönelik bilgi düzeyi düşüktür. İntörnlerin bu konudaki bilgi ve farkındalıklarının arttırılması, toplumda anne sütü ile beslemenin yaygınlaştırılması ve sürdürülmesine olumlu katkı sağlayabilir.
