Abstract

Extracorporeal shock wave therapyExtracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a therapy method which is applied acoustic pressure to thebody. Shock wave was first used in urology for renal stones in 1980s. Research has been started in orthopedicsin 1990s. Today it has been used for most of the diagnosis in different clinics. In this review it has summarizedthat the action mechanism, indications, contraindications, complications and current studies in the literatureabout extracorporeal shock wave therapy

EKSTRAKORPOREAL ŞOK DALGA TEDAVİSİ/EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY

Abstract

Ekstrakorporeal şok dalga tedavisi (Extracorporeal shock wave therapy-ESWT), akustik basıncın vücuda uygulanmasına yönelik bir tedavi yöntemidir. Şok dalgaları ilk olarak 1980'lerde ürolojide üreter taşları kırmak için kullanılmıştır. 1990'larda ise ortopedide kullanımı üzerine çalışmalar başlatılmıştır. Bugün kliniklerde pek çok tanıda kullanılmaktadır. Bu derlemede ekstrakorporeal şok dalga tedavisinin etki mekanizması, kullanım alanları, kontraendikasyonları, komplikasyonları ve konu ile ilgili literatürde yer alan son çalışmalar özetlenmeye çalışılacaktır.
