A Research on Determining The Efficiency of Greenhouse Fan-Pad System in Hot Region
Abstract
The aim of this study, is to investigate internal and external temperatures, which are
effective in the high temperature season during July and August, and to evaluate the effectiveness of
the fan pad system in the province of Antalya. In the region, greenhouses interior temperatures could
go over 40 °C if they don’t have a cooling system. During July and August when the temperatures are
at peak level, necessary climatic conditions inside the greenhouse should be able to provide the
optimum growing conditions. For this purpose, temperature and humidity were measured and the data
were compared with the values of climate parameters in order to answer these questions what extent
and how much the temperature inside the greenhouse changes.
The greenhouse was cooled to prevent over-heating in the high temperature season with a humidified
cooling system which provides less heat in the indoor air and less water stress for plants with more
humidity when we compared to natural ventilation. Based on our result, internal temperatures could
be reduced as much as 7 to 14 ° C using the fan pad system in Antalya province.
