Effects of Different Nitrogen Doses on Yield and Quality Components of Sweet Corn (Zea mays Saccharata Sturt.) Under Uşak Ecological Conditions

Abstract

This study was carried out in the village of Hocalar in Usak Central in 2013 production season. In the study was intended to determine the effect of 4 different nitrogen (0, 7, 14 and 21 kg/da) doses on yield and quality characteristics of sweet corn (jubilee F1). According to results of the research, the effects of nitrogen doses were found to be statistically significant in plant height, first ear height, fresh ear yield and nitrate accumulation. In the plant; stem diameter, ear diameter, ear height, single ear weight, row number in ear, seed number in ear, marketable ear number, fresh on the cob grain crude protein content and sugar content were not affected by nitrogen doses. The highest fresh ear yield was obtained from 14 kg/da nitrogen dose.
