Flock Age and Duration of Hatching Egg Storage in Japanese Quails: 2. Effects on Hatching Results

Abstract

In this study, the effects of flock age and storage length on hatching results in Japanese quails were investigated. (Coturnix coturnix japonica). The effects of flock age (8, 12, 18, 25 and 30th weeks) and storage duration (0, 1, 4 and 7th days) were investigated. Fertility decreased with increasing flock age (P< 0,01). In addition, early embryonic mortality, hatchability of total and fertile eggs was only significantly affected by flock age. Examined levels of the storage duration had no significant effect on the examined hatching parameters.
