This study was conducted at the experimental area of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Cukurova University as a double crop in 2018. The objective of this study was to determine the important agronomic and grain quality (oil and protein content, fatty acid composition of oil) characteristics of some registered sesame varieties in double crop growing condition in Mediterranean Region (Turkey). The experiment design was a randomized complete block with three replications. Arslanbey, Batem-Aksu, Batem-Uzun, Baydar-2001, Boydak, Cumhuriyet, Gölmarmara, Hatipoglu, Kapsut-99, Muganlı-57, Orhangazi-57, Osmanlı-99, Özberk-82, Sarısu, Tan-99, Tanas and Sarı Susam (landrace) sesame varieties were used as a plant material in this research. Plant height, the first capsule height, branch and capsule number per plant, 1000 seed weight, seed yield per hectare, oil and protein content and fatty acids composition of oil characteristics were investigated. According to the results, the seed yield of sesame varieties varied between 977-1521 kg/ha, oil percentage varied between 44.2-50.9%, protein percentage varied between 20.9-22.2% in main crop growing condition.
