Abstract

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to translate the new version of the DSQ scale, whose scope was reevaluated by Luo et al. (2018) through a qualitative study, into Turkish by conducting a validity and reliability study.
Materials and Methods: The scope and language validity phase of the new DSQ scale, which was thematically analyzed by Luo et al. (2018) through a focus group study and suggested new areas to be added, was carried out on the basis of ISPOR's ten-step translation and cultural adaptation guide. In the application phase of the scale, data were obtained from 250 volunteer patients who applied to a dental school to receive oral and dental health services by face-to-face interview method. Analyses were conducted with SPSS-AMOS-21 programs. For construct validity, Kaiser Meyer-Olkin and Bartlett Sphericity Test were performed, followed by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Item-total correlation and Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency coefficient were used to determine the reliability of the scale.
Findings: The factor analysis revealed a scale with 16 items and 2 factors (KMO=0.820; Bartlett χ2=1100.755). The rate of explaining the total variance of the scale is 40.295%. In confirmatory factor analysis, it was determined that the goodness of fit values of the model obtained by including 16 questions and 2 dimensions were at an acceptable level (χ2/sd=1.626; p<0.001; RMSEA=0.056; GFI=0.927; AGFI=0.922; CFI=0.970; RMR=0.05). The reliability coefficients for the subscales and the total scale were 0.807; 0.656 and 0.799, respectively.
Conclusion: The results obtained show that the Patient Satisfaction in Dental Health Services Scale is a valid and reliable tool that can be used to evaluate patient satisfaction in service delivery.
