Yüksek Dolduruculu Akışkan Kompozit Rezinlerin Çarklı Cila Sistemleri ile Parlatıldıktan Sonraki Yüzey Özellikleri ve Renk Değişimleri

Year 2024, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 162 - 168, 19.08.2024

Abstract

Investigation of Surface Properties and Color Changes of Highly Filled Flowable Resin Composites After Polishing With Wheel Polishers

Year 2024, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 162 - 168, 19.08.2024
https://doi.org/10.15311/selcukdentj.1375294

Abstract

Background: Evaluate the effects of two simplified wheel polishing systems on three highly filled flowable composite resin on surface roughness, gloss and color stability.
Methods: Ninty-six samples were prepared with G-aenial Universal Injectable (GUI), Omnichroma Flow (OF), Clearfil Majesty Flow (CMF) and NeoSpectra (NS). One side of the samples were polished with Twist Dia (TWD) or Nova Twist (NOV). Surface roughness was measured with a profilometer, gloss with a Glossmeter. Specimens were immersed in coffee. Color measurements were performed with a spectrophotometer after each step. Scanning electron microscope images of the surfaces were taken at all stages using two samples from each group. Surface roughness and gloss values were analysed by ANOVA, Tukey and Pearson Correlation tests. Color changes were evaluated with Paired-T-test, Independent T-test, ANOVA and Dunnett-t tests (p<0.05).
Results: Surface roughness values were different for NS. Gloss was different for TWD groups. In TWD groups, NS was the group that exhibiting the most color change while CMF was the least (p=0.009). In NOV groups, OF and NS were the groups having the most color change while GUF and CMF showed the less. After re-polishing, the color of all materials in TWD groups changed to ΔE<2. In NOV groups, only NS group reached ΔE<2. The difference was significant for OF and NS (p=0.011).
Conclusion: Polishing with wheel systems in highly filled flowable composite resins produced smooth surfaces, but gloss values were low. After repolishing, all TWD groups reached ΔE<2, while only the NS group reached this value in NOV groups.
