Effects of Poultry Manure, Wood Ash and Lime on Steam-Root Biomass and Chlorophyll Contents of Corn Plant in an Acid Reaction Soil

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the effect of poultry manure (PM), wood ash (WA), PM+WA (ration of 1:1 weight/ weight) and lime (L) applications on corn plant biomass yield in an acid reaction soil under greenhouse condition. The treatments in greenhouse pot experiment, containing 2500 g soil based on oven dry, consisted of control, the doses of 20, 40 and 80 g pot-1 of PM; the doses of 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 g pot-1 of WA; the doses of 5, 10 and 20 g pot-1 of PM+WA mixture and the doses of 2, 4 and 6 g pot-1 of L. The applications of PM compare with other treatments produced higher plant height, steam diameter, steam biomass, root biomass and root dry matter and chlorophyll b content. As a result of the study, TG and TG + KL applications have been proposed due to both more growth of corn plant and improve potential of the soil pH value.
