The Determination of The Aphid (Hemiptera:Aphididae) Species of The Central Denizli

Abstract

As a result of the analyses of studies conducted between 2004 and 2006 to determine aphid species on the both cultured and naturally grown plants in the Central Denizli, 17 species belongs to 10 genus from Aphidinae and Pemphiginae subfami-lies of Aphididae family were recorded. Recorded species are; Aphis craccivora Koch, Aphis fabae Scopoli, Aphis gossypii Glover, Aphis nasturtii Kaltenbach, Aphis punicae Shinji, Aphis spiraecola Patch, Brachycaudus (Prunaphis) cardui (Linnae-us), Brachycaudus helichrysi (Kaltenbach), Eriosoma lanigerum (Gilette), Hyalopterus pruni (Geoffray), Macrosiphum eu-phorbiae (Thomas), Macrosiphum rosae (Linnaeus), Myzaphis turanica (Nevsky), Myzus ascolanicus Sulzer, Ovatus insitus (Gilette), Rhopalosiphum insertum (Linnaeus) and Wahlgreniella nervata (Gilette). All recorded species are new records for the study area as there were no detailed studies organized before. Of these species, Myzus ascolanicus and Wahlgreniella nervata were new records for Turkish aphid fauna. For each recorded species, worldwide and Turkey’s distribution, host plant lists and general characteristics were also given.
