Effects of Different Applications on Rooting of Softwood Cuttings of MM106 Apple Rootstock in Perlit and Hydroponic Media
Abstract
This study was conducted on the investigation of certain chemical applications on rooting success of MM106 soft-wood cuttings in perlit and hydroponic media. The cuttings treated with 1000 and 2000 ppm IBA as short period appli-cation were transplanted into the perlit medium. Hydroponic system was employed for the treatments of IBA and iron as long term application. The cuttings representing the control group were placed into both perlit and hydroponic without any treatment. At the end of the study, the highest survival rate was obtained from 1000 ppm IBA application of perlit with 72.22%. In hydroponic, the highest survival percentage was detected in 0.01 iron application. (61.10%). As to rooting percentage, 2000 ppm IBA resulted in the highest value (63.90 %), while 0.01% iron application was better for hydroponic. Considering the remaining observations, IBA applications provided remarkable inducement compared with the control. Although there was not a satisfactory results in hydroponic, iron application had positive effect in terms of comparison among the treatments.
