Determination of Yield and Yield Components of Some Safflower Cultivars under Irrigated and Dried Conditions

Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the yield and yield components of some safflower cultivars under Konya irrigated and dried conditions in 2004 and 2005 years. The experimental design was randomized complete block design in split plots with three replications. Three safflower cultivars (Dinçer, Yenice and Remzibey-05) were used. In the research, plant height, branch number per plant, head number per plant, seed number per head, thousand seed weight, hull ratio, seed yield, crude oil ratio and crude oil yield had been examined. According to mean data of two years, irrigation, except hull ratio, were increased significantly all of the investigated characters comparing to dried conditions. Consequently, seed yield and crude oil yield were determinated 1899.0 kg ha-1 and 624.0 kg ha-1, respectively in irrigation conditions whereas this values were decreased 928.0 and 264.0 kg ha-1, respectively in dried conditions. Remzibey-05 cultivar, which was obtained high seed yield (1528.0 kg ha-1) and crude oil yield (521.0 kg ha-1), can be recommend both irrigatable and without irrigation conditions of Konya and similar areas.
