Energy Consumption in Sprinkler Irrigation: A Study for Irrigation with Groundwater Sources

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the energy consumption of the sprinkler irrigation system operated with ground water resources. The study was conducted in the local farmer conditions in Konya-Çumra plain in 2004 and 2005 year irrigation season. The research was conducted on sprinkler systems by taking into account this case. According to results obtained; in sprinkler irrigation systems the vertical axle pumping induced by pto, energy consumpation was 34.3 MJha-1mm-1, in vertical axle pump induced by electric motor and submersible pumping systems, this value were computed as 42.9 and 37.1 MJha-1mm-1, respectively
