Determining The Nutritional Problems of Karasakiz Grape Grown in Çanakkale

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional state of Karasakız grape grown in Çanakkale. Leaf blades, petioles, and soil samples (within the depth of 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm) were taken from 19 different gardens to make possible uniform area sampling. The results obtained from soil and leaf analysis could be summarized as follows: All of the soils showed strongly alkaline and medium acid pH values. All of the soils had low levels of organic matter content. Available phosphorus content was low level in 60% and medium level in 34%, available potassium was insufficient in 50% of the soils. Available iron content was insufficient level in 50%, available manganese was insufficient level in 26%, available zinc was insufficient level 8%, available copper contents were sufficient in all of the soils. Leaf blades analysis indicated that 58%, 26% and all of the samples had insufficient levels of phosphorus, zinc, and calcium respectively. Nitrogen contents were sufficient level in 89% of the soils. There were no nutritional problems in leaf blades with respect to potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese and copper levels. The results of petioles analysis showed that all of the samples had sufficient levels of potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper. Calcium was insufficient in all of the soils. A significant relationship were found among the soil properties, nutrient element contents of leaf blades and petioles.
