The Economic Analysis of Cucumber Production in Greenhouse in Kırıkkale Province
Abstract
This study aimed to determine the economic structures and marginal yield level of cucumber growing farmers under greenhouse conditions in districts of Bahşılı, Balışeyh, Çelebi, Sulakyurt, Delice, Keskin and Yahşihan in Kırıkkale province, and to analyze the effects of production factors. The survey technique was used in 33 farm enterprises, and the data were analyzed by econometric methods. The results showed that production cost was calculated 1.335.828.834 TL per decare. According to the results, farmers produced cucumber in greenhouses enhanced the productivity of labor force. Gross production value, net profit, gross production value per 100 TL variable cost, relative profit and gross production value per man power unit were found 2.171.900.826 TL, 836.071.992 TL, 2.290 TL, 1.63 and 39.062.965 TL/da, respectively. Results showed that capital items have been used more efficiently by farmers. In addition to that it has been found that use of nitrogen fertilizer and irrigation were insufficient, but phosphorus fertilizing and seed expenses were high. In conclusion, optimum fertilizing and sufficient irrigation, and lower seed expenses and use of phosphorus were suggested by extension works.
