Effect of Sowing Distances and Forward Speeds on Field Germination Rates and Uniformity of Row Plant Distribution at Sugar Beet Sowing by Vacuum Type Pneumatic Precise Drilling Machine

Year 2005, Volume: 19 Issue: 35, 30 - 40, 25.04.2005

Abstract

This research was conducted with pelleted and unpelleted monogerm sugar beet seeds, which were sown by pneumatic single seed sowing machine, at field condition. Forward speeds were selected as 1.05, 1.54 and 2.06 m/s. Also, sowing dis-tances were determined as 5, 8 and 15cm. After one month from sowing, uniformity of plant distribution on row, field germina-tion rates and numbers of plant per decar were evaluated.
Row plant distribution uniformity as a coefficients variation, field germination rates and numbers of plant were determined between 47.77 % to 106.08 %; between 41.80 % to 63.86 and between 7243 plant/da to 24423 plant/da, respectively.
