Breeding Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) Resistant to Dry Condition II. Intervarieties Open-Pollination and Selection

Year 1992, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 67 - 78, 15.12.1992

Abstract

This study was started to obtain resistant lines to dry conditions in 1984. Better grown plants were selected from 10 varieties, under natural dry conditions. Selected plants were lets to be open pollinated in next year. The higher seed yielding plants were harvasted individually. Then, progeny test was carried out within selected plants, and some lines were obtained. After controlling the lines under restrichted irrigation conditions in two locations (Ilgın and Hasankale), it was found some drought resistant lines, having high root yield, digestion rate, and sugar yield. It was also analyzed the variation according to root weight between parent varieties and their progenies.

Kuraklığa Dayanıklı Şeker Pancarı (Beta vulgaris L.) Islahı II. Çeşitler Arası Doğal Melezleme ve Seleksiyonu

Year 1992, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 67 - 78, 15.12.1992
