The Effect of Temperatures on Flowering Dates and Seed Yield of Parent Lines in Commercial Hybrid Maize (MF 714) Production in Çukurova Region

Year 1997, Volume: 11 Issue: 15, 39 - 46, 15.07.1997

Abstract

The parantel lines of maize seeds registered as MI 714 were planted to 1.300 da field for production of F1 seeds at 12 different locations in Çukurova in 1993. The ratio for the female and male lines was 4 to 2, respectively. Seed yield is highly correlated with Growing Degree Days (GDD) rather than days to flowering. The highest correlation coefficient (r=-0.78) was obtained between silking GDD and yield. in later plantings, seed yteld decreased due to diffe- rential response of silking and tasseling development effected by higher accumulated heat units.

Çukurova Bölgesinde Sıcaklığın Ticari Melez Mısır (MF 714) Tohumluğu Üretiminde Ebeveyn Hatların Çiçeklenme Tarihlerine ve Tohumluk Verimine Etkisi

Year 1997, Volume: 11 Issue: 15, 39 - 46, 15.07.1997
