Kronik Hastalığı Olan Yaşlı Bireylerde Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Düzeyinin Başarılı Yaşlanmaya Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, kronik hastalığı olan yaşlılarda sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin başarılı yaşlanmaya etkisini belirlemek amaçlandı.
Tanımlayıcı, kesitsel ve ilişki arayıcı tipteki çalışmanın örneklemini 182 yaşlı oluşturdu. Veriler, bilgi formu, sağlık okuryazarlığı ölçeği ve başarılı yaşlanma ölçeği ile toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Student t testi, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve Lineer regresyon analizi kullanıldı. Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamına alınan katılımcıların yaş ortalamasının 70.00±3.51 olup; %57.1’inin kadın ve %84.2’sinin evli olduğu, %75.3’ünün eşiyle birlikte yaşadığı belirlendi. Hastaların Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği puanının 32.66±16.12; Başarılı Yaşlanma Ölçeği puanının ise 41.59±14.30 olduğu saptandı. Hastaların Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği ve Başarılı Yaşlanma Ölçeği puanları arasında güçlü düzeyde (r=0.861, p<0.001) pozitif yönlü ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlendi. Bu çalışmada, evli olan, eğitim durumu yüksek olan, eşiyle yaşayan, sağlığını iyi algılayan, yeterli süre uyuyabilen yaşlılarda sağlık okuryazarlığı ve başarılı yaşlanma puanlarının anlamlı olarak daha yüksek olduğu belirlendi (p<0,05). Bu çalışma sonucunda, kronik hastalığı olan yaşlıların sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin düşük olduğu, sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyi yüksek olan yaşlıların başarılı yaşlandığı saptandı. Ayrıca evli olan, eşiyle yaşayan, sağlığını iyi algılayan, yeterli süre uyuyabilen yaşlıların sağlık okuryazarlığının daha yüksek olduğu ve daha başarılı yaşlandıkları belirlendi.
