Türkiye’deki Ekonomik Büyüme ve İşsizlik İlişkisinin Analizi: Yeni Bir Eşbütünleşme Testi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’deki ekonomik büyüme oranı ve işsizlik oranı arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişkiyi 1980-2014 dönemi için sorgulamaktadır. Bu bağlamda Bayer ve Hanck 2012 tarafından geliştirilen eşbütünleşme testine başvurulmaktadır. İlaveten, büyüme oranı ve işsizlik oranı arasındaki nedensellik ilişkinin varlığı Hacker ve Hatemi-J 2006 testi ile sınanmaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular, büyüme oranı ve işsizlik oranı arasında uzun dönemde bir eşbütünleşme ilişkisinin ve nedenselliğin olmadığını göstermektedir. Bu bulgular Türkiye’de istihdam yaratmayan bir büyümenin söz konusu olduğu düşüncesini desteklemektedir.

An Analysis of the Relationship between the Economic Growth and Unemployment in Turkey: A New Cointegration Test

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the long-run relationship between the economic growth rate and unemployment rate in Turkey over the period 1980-2014. To this end, the cointegration test developed by Bayer ve Hanck 2012 is applied. In addition, the existance of the causality relationship between the growth rate and unemployment rate is tested by the Hacker and Hatemi J 2006 ’s test. The findings showed that, there is no cointegration relationship in the long-run and any causality between growth rate and unemployment rate. These findings support the thoughts that there exist jobless growth in Turkey
