Finansal Kuznets Eğrisi Hipotezi: G-7 Ülkeleri Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı finansal gelişme ile gelir
dağılımı eşitsizliği arasındaki ilişkiden hareketle
Finansal Kuznets Eğrisi hipotezinin G-7 ülke
ekonomileri için geçerliliğini sınamaktır.
Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda ABD, Almanya,
İngiltere, İtalya ve Kanada ülkeleri için yıllık
veriler kullanılarak yapılan analizde Stock ve
Watson (1993) tarafından geliştirilen Dinamik En
Küçük Kareler (DOLS) yöntemi ve Shin (1994)
tarafından geliştirilen eştümleşme sınaması
kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulardan hareketle
ABD, İtalya ve Kanada ülke ekonomilerinde
Finansal Kuznets Eğrisi hipotezinin geçerli olduğu
ve finansal gelişme ile gelir dağılımı eşitsizliği
arasında ters-U şeklinde bir ilişkinin varlığı tespit
edilmiştir. Ancak Almanya ve İngiltere ekonomileri
için Finansal Kuznets Eğrisi hipotezinin geçerli
olmadığı ve finansal gelişmenin gelir dağılımı
eşitsizliği üzerinde herhangi bir azaltıcı etkisi
bulunmadığı belirlenmiştir. ARDL modellerinden
elde edilen sonuçlara göre ise sadece Almanya ve
İtalya ekonomileri için Finansal Kuznets Eğrisi
hipotezinin geçerli olduğu ve finansal gelişmenin
gelir dağılımı eşitsizliği üzerinde herhangi bir
azaltıcı etkisi bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın
kapsamı içerisinde ayrıca ele alınan klasik Kuznets
Eğrisi hipotezinin ABD, Almanya, İngiltere, İtalya
ve Kanada ülke ekonomileri için geçerli bir hipotez
olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Buna göre adı
geçen G-7 ülkelerinde ekonomik büyümenin gelir
dağılımı eşitsizliğini azaltıcı yönde herhangi bir
etkisi bulunmamaktadır.
