Factors such as geopolitical location and natural resources determine
the fate of geographies or states. There has been a struggle for these elements
in every period of history. The Middle East is geography with these
characteristics. This place where civilization and religions were born has
always been the center of attention of the imperialist powers. They have tried
all kinds of methods to shape this region in line with their interests and to
settle in the region. They used the ethnic and sectarian diversity that could
be called the wealth of the Middle East for their own purposes. Until the
present day in the Middle East, unstable chaos has been created by ethnic and
sectarian conflicts and this still continues. The division of Islam, the dominant religion in the Middle East, into various sects has made the Middle East a confrontation area for sects. The separation of Sunni and Shiites, who played an important role in determining both regional and world politics, created an important field of maneuver for the imperialist powers. In fact, the activities of the imperialists in the region in line with their security and interests are closely related to Sunni and Shiite elements.
