GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT: EU SUPPORT FOR THE MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Abstract

As a global issue, poverty is closely related to all the countries. In this regard, one of the most important tools in the development of crossborder co-operation are the development aids. The main purpose of development assistance is reducing or eliminating the problems caused by poverty. International organizations are working to reduce poverty around the world. United Nations (UN) is one of the organizations working for this purpose. The Millennium Development Goals set by UN in 2000. The Millennium Development Goals has created a significant awareness about the problem of poverty on the international level. Therefore, The Millennium Development Goals is an important example of international cooperation. The achievement of The Millennium Development Goals requires significant resources. European Union (EU) member states are one of the major countries who supports The Millennium Development Goals. EU Development Cooperation Policy is carried out in line with the Millennium Development Goals.
