The Effects of Policy Practices on Mortgaged Housing Sales: An Empirical Analysis
Abstract
Housing is a space for people to use for
accommodation. Housing policies are one
of the important policy topics of governments. A correct housing policy will
provide that urbanisation also occurs properly.
The fundamental economic factors affecting urbanisation policies are
housing prices and rental prices. From this aspect, political practices to be
implemented by governments are of essential importance in terms of affecting
how citizens obtaining housing. In this context, the purpose of this study is to
determine whether or not housing policies to be implemented by the government
will have an impact on the citizen’s behaviour of obtaining housing. To this
end, mortgaged housing sales data of six largest selected cities in Turkey were
analysed with the help of panel unit root tests. Findings are in the direction
of adopted housing policies have permanent impacts on mortgaged housing sales.
