WELFARE STATE AS AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM

Abstract

Welfare State, which is located at the heart of the economic policy debates especially
in continental European countries, emerged after World War II as consequences of
economic, politic and social developments. Based on Fordist production system,
Welfare States became successful in both economic and social sense by providing
social consensus. This study shows that despite the common features, Welfare States
may show different applications. In addition, this study examines the emergence of
welfare state and its economic-theoretical underpinnings.

EKONOMİK BİR SİSTEM OLARAK REFAH DEVLETİ

Abstract

Özellikle kıta Avrupası ülkelerinde ekonomi politikaları tartışmalarının göbeğinde yer
alan Refah Devleti, iktisadi, siyasal ve sosyal gelişmelerin bir sonucu olarak 2. Dünya
Savaşı sonrasında ortaya çıkmıştır. Fordist üretim biçimini temel alan Refah
Devletleri, toplumsal uzlaşıyı da sağlayarak savaş sonrası dönemde gerek sosyal
gerekse de iktisadi açıdan başarılı olmuştur. Bu çalışmada, temel özelliklerine karşın
refah devleri uygulamalarının farklılık gösterebildiği açıklanmaktadır. Çalışmada
aynı zamanda, refah devletlerinin nasıl ortaya çıktığı ve iktisat teorisi açısından
temelleri incelenmektedir.
