Abstract
This study aims to identify the elements that add value to human beings and to classify them in terms of being innate or acquired. The worth of a human being is directly proportional to whether he/she cares or disregards the divine signs in the universe. When divine declarations are examined, it is observed that some elements which add value to this exceptional entity are innate and the others are acquired. Prophethood is an innate rank and offered to those of merit. The Qur’ān has declared that among those who had this position, there were some whose ranks were raised by Allah and has described some of them as “ulu’l-azm”. Making acquaintance with contemporary prophets or having a bond of lineage or affinity with them is a means of gaining value for those who are grateful. To make acquaintance with them has both innate and acquired aspects. For, it is a divine grace to receive the message of any prophet firsthand. The blessing of having a bond of lineage or affinity imposes additional responsibilities on humans, such as getting away from the flaws. The faith, which is a blessing that every human is obligated to reach, is at the top of the acquired elements. The believers are worthy in the presence of Allah at the rate of their taqwa, knowledge, and good deeds.
