Vulvar Basal Cell Carcinoma: A Rare Localization

Abstract

Although basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is often seen in sun-exposed areas, rare atypical locations as vulva have been reported. Infections, chronic irritation, radiation and chronic arsenic exposure are considered in the etiology of vulvar BCC. A seventy-five year old female patient who is on follow ups for multiple facial and scalp BCCs that are treated with topical imiquimod and cryotherapy because the patient rejected surgical interventions, had vulvar ulcerated nodule which was diagnosed as BCC. This case of BCC was located in two different anatomical regions, without a history of exposure to triggers as arsenic or radiation, thus we considered a role of primary inoculation in the spread of BCC.

Vulvar Bazal Hücreli Karsinom: Nadir Bir Yerleşim

Abstract

BBazal hücreli karsinom (BHK) sıklıkla güneşe maruz kalan yerlerde görülür ancak nadiren vulva gibi atipik lokalizasyonlarda da bildirilmiştir. Vulvar yerleşimde etyolojide özellikle enfeksiyonlar, kronik irritasyon, radyasyon ve kronik arsenik maruziyeti düşünülmüştür. Çok yavaş büyüyen bu tümörlerde uzak metastaz oldukça nadirdir. 75 yaşında yüz ve saçlı deride BHK'ları sebebiyle operasyonu kabul etmediği için kriyoterapi ve topikal imikimod kombinasyonu ile takip ettiğimiz kadın hastanın vulvada gelişen ülsere nodülü BHK ile uyumlu olarak geldi. Burada iki farklı anatomik bölgede, arsenik veya radyasyon gibi tetikleyicilere maruziyet öyküsü olmadan BHK lezyonlarının gelişmesi BHK yayılımında primer inokülasyonun rolü olabileceğini düşündürmüştür.
