The Role of Genetic Inheritance in Mastoid Pneumatization

Abstract

Although the relation between mastoid pnömatization and the disease of middle ear is known, there is no consensus on which is the cause and result. In this study, the children diagnosed as seröz otitis media and their parents are studied and the role of genetic inheritance in mastoid pnömatization is investigated via planimetric tenique of Diamant. In result; increased probability of seroz otitis media development in children of mothers mastoid pnömatization was found to be decreased.

Abstract

Mastoid pnömatizasyon ile orta kulak hastalıkları arasındaki ilişki bilinmesine rağmen hangisinin neden hangisinin sonuç olduğu kesinlik kazanmamıştır. Bu çalışmada seröz otitis media tanısı ile takip edilen çocuklar ve bunların anne ve babaları Diamant planimetrik ölçüm tekniği kullanılarak incelenmiş ve genetik geçişin etkinliği araştırılmıştır. Sonuş olarak; mastoid pnömatizasyonu azalmış annelerin çocuklarında seroz otitis media gelişme ihtimalinin yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
