Abstract

Inverted papilloma is a benign tumor that is frequently seen in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. It is usually unilateral, but can also be seen bilaterally. Squamous cell carcinoma can be associated with inverted papilloma. Synchronous bilateral squamous cell carcinoma associated with inverted papilloma has not been presented in the literature before. An external approach with lateral rhinotomy incision is performed frequently for paranasal sinus tumors. Bilateral lateral rhinotomy incision is used very rarely. In this study, a case of synchronous bilateral squamous cell carcinoma associated with inverted papilloma that was surgically treated using bilateral lateral rhinotomy incisions is presented.

Paranazal Sinüslerde İnverted Papillom Zemininde Gelişmiş Bilateral Yassı Hücreli Karsinomun Bilateral Lateral Rinotomi Yaklaşımı İle Tedavisi

Abstract

İnverted papillom nazal kavite ve paranazal sinüslerde sık görülen benign neoplazmlardır. Genellikle tek taraflı görülsede bilateral de görülebilir. İnverted papillom zemininde yassı hücreli karsinom görülebilir. İki taraflı aynı zamanda tespit edilen inverted papillom zemininde gelişmiş yassı hücreli karsinom vakası bildirilmemiştir. Paranazal sinüs malignitelerinde lateral rinotomi insizyonu ile eksternal yaklaşım sıklıkla kullanılmaktadır. Bilateral lateral rinotomi insizyonu ise çok nadir kullanılmaktadır. Bu makalede bilateral paranazal sinüslerde senkron olarak, inverted papillom zemininde gelişmiş yassı hücreli karsinom vakasının bilateral lateral rinotomi insizyonu ile eksternal olarak cerrahi tedavisi yapılan vaka sunulmuştur.
