Abstract
Al-Ruhiyyah is a poem composed by İbn Sina. This poem tackles mainly the subject of spirit and includes 21 verses written in Arabic using an educational symbolic language. Al-Ruhiyyah has been explained by several scholars in Arabic as well as being translated into English, French, Russian, and Tajiki Persian. The Al-Ruhiyyah has gained great prominence in translation and commentaries in Turkish literature. This poem has been explained three times in Turkish as well as translated in prose into Turkish four times. However, the one and only rhymed translation of the poem is done by Ali Dede al-Bosnawi (1007/1598). Although this translation abides by the original poem in terms of the poetic form, it doesn’t comply with its rhyme and meter. Till this time, al-Bosnawi’s translation has never been analyzed as a separable scientific study. That’s why this study aims at analyzing and highlighting al-Bosnawi’s translation of al-Ruhiyyah poem and presenting it to the scientific canon. This study consists of two major parts; the first part includes brief information about Ali Dede Albosnawi’s life and his works. This part also studies the mentioned translation in terms of the rules of comparative literature and translation studies. The second part includes the verified text.
