Abstract

Batılaşma sürecinde, Doğu ve Batı medeniyetleri arasındaki temel ayrımlardan birinin “kadın hürriyeti” olduğunu fark eden aydınlar ve sanatçılar, bu sorunu eserlerinde kuvvetle işlemişlerdir. Başlarda modernleşmenin nesnesi olan kadın, Servet-i Fünûn dönemi eserlerinde; özgür, eğitimli bireyler olarak işlenmiştir. Meşrutiyet dönemindeyse zihinlerdeki "ideal kadın" imajına, “Türk milletini yükseltecek temel varlık” imgesi eklenmiştir. “Neriman” romanı, Servet-i Fünûn zevk ve anlayışının etkisini göstermekle birlikte bir Meşrutiyet dönemi eseridir. Bu çalışmada; ileride, toplumun sosyal sorunlarını acımasızca ele alacak olan ve kadını yozlaşmanın birinci derecede sorumlusu gören Selâhattin Enis'in ilk romanı Neriman'da, kadın sorununu hangi boyutuyla işlediği üzerinde duruldu

The Woman in Selâhattin Enis' Novel “Neriman”

Abstract

The scholars and artists, realizing that one of the main distinguishing factors between western and oriental civilization is the “freedom of women” looked into this issue consistently in their works. The women which were perceived as an object of westernization at first, were seen as free and educated individual at “Servet-i Fünûn” era. In the constitutional period, in addition to ideal woman image in mind, the image of “the utmost being to raise the Turkish nation” is contributed. The novel “Neriman” is a constitutional period product as well as indicating the aesthetic and understanding impact of Servet-i Fünûn era. In this work, the scale and perspectives of study by Selâhattin Enis who would handle the social problems relentlessly and see women as primarily responsible for the assimilation in the society in the future, is issued.
