An Evaluation on the Perspectives of the Students Who Read Literary and Popular Novels
Abstract
The main objective of this study is to indicate the perspectives of the secondary school students who read these two types of novels (literary and popular). The problem status of this study is defined as: “How do the students, who read the two different types of novels (literary, popular) think about the novels?” This study has a depictive design. The target of the population of the study composes of the 9, 10, 11 and 12 grade students who study at Bursa Ertuğrul Gazi and Nuri Erbak Anatolian High Schools in 2015-2015 and the sampling composes of 120 students. A 27 question survey is formed in order to collect data applied to the 120 students. The data collected is analyzed in SPSS program and the frequency distribution and percentages are defined. According to the findings reached with the study, it is defined that popular novel is more favored and loved type of novel among the students.
