The Republic of Belarus in Chancery of Humane Impasses
Abstract
Belarus, declared independence in 1991 after the dissolution of the USSR, is one of the young republics of Europe. During the post-USSR period, the Republic of Belarus faced a serious political, social and economic depression. In the result of this depression, which was deepened in the beginning of the 21st century, every part of the society was affected, and certain humane problems were worsened. In this study, the threatening demographic, health and social problems of Belarus were examined under eight headings, and they were brought into question from the viewpoint of anthropogeography. There are scarcely any scientific studies in our country about the Republic of Belarus. For this reason, the primary goal of this research is to introduce this little-known country to Turkish readers. The yet another goal of it is to draw attention to the problems faced by former USSR republics by the help of Belarus example, and set light to the main problems that threaten the future of these countries.
