Şemseddin Sami’s work has been a great importance in the Turkish lexicography studies, which began in the 11th century with Kaşgarlı Mahmut and continued to develop until today. The innovations that Sami brought to Turkish lexicography show itself in his dictionaries such as Kamus-ı Türkî, Kamus-ı Fransevî, and Kamus-ı Arabî. In this study, we tried to introduce the Kamus-ı Arabî which was written by Şemseddin Sami in 1895 but couldn’t be completed. In the context of Kamus-ı Arabî, we examined in terms of modern dictionary science, the type of the dictionary, the type of item head, the arrangement of items, spelling, phonetic information, grammatical information, definition methods, etymological information, usage information, examples used in the definition and cross-reference within the dictionary.
