Abstract
Bilecik is located on an important road and railway transit route connecting the Marmara Region to Central Anatolia and the Mediterranean. Because of its this feature, knowing the distribution of crime events in Bilecik rural according to time and space constitutes the main purpose of the study. In this way, it will be possible to fight crime effectively. The material of the study consists of Crime statistics between 2010-2019 in responsibility of Bilecik Provincial Gendarmerie Command. In the study, “Document Analysis”, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and the obtained data were evaluated and mapped in ArcGIS 10.2 program. As the result of this study; In the rural areas of Bilecik, crimes vary in spatial and temporal dimensions according to their type, crimes create hotspots in settlements along the Istanbul-Antalya highway, the crime rate decreases as you move away from the highway lines, some crimes feed on socialization and some on seclusion, crime opportunities and alienation created by periodic dynamic studies (such as YHT, HEPP constructions) increase the crime formation especially against property, and world agenda (terrorism and the Syrian Civil War) and its reflections on the country also affect crime detections.
