Abstract
The aim of the study is to understand that cultural and historical situation of hand-woven carpet in the study area, and to evaluate the conservation and sustainability of this cultural heritage. The study was made in the qualitative method, and interview and observation technics also had been applied in the study. Qualitative data which is form of words, sentences and paragraphs, was interpreted as descriptive. According to the findings of the study, hand woven carpet had been made in the study area since the Seljuk period. While carpet was woven in every house in the past, they do to woven in the carpet house of Taşpınar Municipality for the last 25 years. It is determined that the women who hasn’t any social insurance and a regular income, take a very low fee for carpet which is woven. As a result, if hand woven carpet which is traditional and original, can be marketed in the tourism, there will be an increase and continuity in wages of the women. In this situation, conservation and sustainability of the hand woven carpet which is traditional in the region, will be ensured.
