Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar'ın Huzur Adlı Romanında Mekânın Poetikası

Bu çalışma, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’ın Huzur adlı romanında yer alan mekânları, Gaston Bachelard’ın Mekânın Poetikası adlı yapıtında geliştirdiği fenomenolojik mekân yaklaşımı çerçevesinde incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Fransız filozof Gaston Bachelard, Mekânın Poetikası (La Poétique de l’espace) adlı yapıtında, mekânın insan zihni ve ruhu üzerindeki etkilerine fenomenolojik bir bakışla yaklaşır ve ev, köşe, yuva, sandık ve manzara/tabiat gibi alanları, insanın hatıralarını, bilinç durumlarını ve düş gücünü şekillendiren yaşantısal mekânlar olarak ele alır. Tanpınar’ın, bireyin ruhsal derinliklerine odaklandığı Huzur romanında yer alan ve karakterlerin iç dünyasıyla özdeşleşen mekânlar da imgesel açıdan zengin bir yapıya sahiptir. Romanda yer alan mekânlar yalnızca fiziksel değil, aynı zamanda düşsel, duygusal, estetik ve ontolojik boyutlarda değerlendirilebilecek nitelikler taşır. Dolayısıyla romanın mekânları, Bachelard’ın ortaya koyduğu poetik mekân kategorileri çerçevesinde bir incelemeye olanak tanır. Bu doğrultuda, Bachelard’ın kavramsallaştırdığı mekânlar, Huzur romanındaki kapalı ve açık mekânlara uygulanarak fenomenolojik bir çözümlemeye tabi tutulmuştur. Huzur’daki mekânların yalnızca olayların geçtiği fiziksel yerler olmadığı; karakterlerin kimlik oluşumlarını, duygusal durumlarını, hafıza ve aidiyet ilişkilerini yansıtan, Bachelard’ın belirttiği üzere imgelemde şekillenen, poetik ve yaşantısal derinliğe sahip alanlara dönüştüğü görülmüştür.

This study aims to examine the spaces featured in Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s novel Huzur within the framework of the phenomenological approach to space developed by Gaston Bachelard in his work The Poetics of Space. In The Poetics of Space (La Poétique de l’espace), French philosopher Gaston Bachelard takes a phenomenological approach to the effects of space on the human mind and spirit, addressing areas such as the home, the corner, the nest, the chest, and the landscape/nature as experiential spaces that shape human memories, states of consciousness, and the power of imagination. The spaces that are featured in Tanpınar’s novel Huzur, which focuses on the spiritual depths of the individual and identify with the inner worlds of the characters are also rich in imagery. The spaces in the novel possess qualities that can be evaluated not only physically, but also in terms of their dreamlike, emotional, aesthetic, and ontological dimensions. Therefore, the spaces in the novel allow for an examination within the framework of Bachelard's poetic space categories. In this regard, Bachelard’s conceptualized spaces have been subjected to a phenomenological analysis by applying them to the closed and open spaces in the novel Huzur. It has been observed that the spaces in Huzur are not merely the physical locations where events take place; they are transformed into areas that reflect the characters’ identity formations, emotional states, memory and belonging relationships, shaped in the imagination, as Bachelard states, and possessing poetic and experiential depth.
