The aim of this study is to examine between the years 2008-2018 within the framework of the functioning of the
free market process with outstanding price increases excessive red meat market in Turkey. The agriculture and
livestock sector, which has strategic priorities for countries, needs incentives and subsidies with a
disadvantageous structure. When not adequately supported, as a food market, inefficient production levels in
agriculture and livestock become a reality, making it difficult to ensure food safety, which is expressed as the sustainable provision of food transport, use and adequate supply. In 2008, after an increase in red meat prices
in Turkey are occurring sought to ensure the food security of the state by opening the front red meat imports.
In this context, Turkey occur in imported articles made after coming to the market in growth and in particular
in the red meat prices starting in 2008 was covered in food safety intervention. The process examined in the
light of price increases and public interventions, indicates market failure resulting in food insecurity.
