The Turkish Adaptation of Perceived Importance Scale: The Validity and Reliability Study

Abstract

The aim of this
study is to adapt the 'Perceived Importance Scale' to Turkish and to examine
its psychometric properties. Perceived Importance Scale is a measurement tool,
which is developed to determine the criteria that people interested in sports,
while participating in organizations. 210 women and 257 men which are 313
athletes, 68 trainers, 41 referees and 45 managers from fencing, football and
volleyball branches participate to this study. Perceived Importance Scale
consist of 3 sub-dimension(Event Preference, Destination Preference and Travel
Style Preference) and 42 items. In data analysis Cronbach Alpha internal
consistency factor was used to test the validity of the structure. The
linguistic equivalence of the scale was examined by using Pearson correlation
analysis. The findings related to the construct validity of the scale support
the three-factor structure of the original scale. The internal consistency
level of the scale was found to be high and it was found to provide linguistic
equivalence. As a result, it was concluded that the Perceived Importance Scale
has good and sufficient psychometric characteristics such as the original scale
in order to evaluate the criteria that people who are interested in sports,
while participating in organizations.

ALGILANAN ÖNEM ÖLÇEĞİ TÜRKÇE UYARLAMASI: GEÇERLİK VE GÜVENİRLİK ÇALIŞMASI

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, “Algılanan Önem Ölçeği (Perceived Importance Scale)’nin Türkçeye uyarlanması ve psikometrik özelliklerinin incelenmesidir. “Algılanan Önem Ölçeği (AÖÖ)” spor ile ilgilenen insanların organizasyonlara katılırken önem verdiği kriterleri belirleyebilmek üzere geliştirilmiş bir ölçme aracıdır. Çalışmaya eskrim, futbol, voleybol branşlarından 210 kadın ve 257 erkek olmak üzere toplam 467 kişi katılmıştır. Katılımcıların; 313’ü sporcu, 68’i antrenör, 41’i hakem, 45 ise yöneticidir. AÖÖ 5'li likert tipinde değerlendirilen, 3 alt boyut (etkinlik tercihi, konum tercihi, seyahat stili tercihi) ve 42 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Veri analizinde yapı geçerliğinin incelenmesi amacı ile doğrulayıcı faktör analizi, güvenirliğini test etmek amacı ile Cronbach’s Alpha iç tutarlılık katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin dilsel eşdeğerliği Pearson korelasyon analizi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliğine ilişkin bulgular, orjinal ölçekteki üç faktörlü yapıyı destekler niteliktedir. Ölçeğe ilişkin iç tutarlık düzeyinin yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiş, dilsel eşdeğerliği sağladığı görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak “Algılanan Önem Ölçeği”'nin spor ile ilgilenen insanların organizasyonlara katılırken önem verdiği kriterleri değerlendirmek üzere, orjinal ölçekteki gibi iyi ve yeterli düzeyde psikometrik özelliklere sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
