Telehealth Interventions Among Parents of Hospitalized Children: A Descriptive and Regression-Based Analysis

Öz

Objective: This study aimed to identify the knowledge levels, opinions, and usage patterns of parents with hospitalized children in pediatric units regarding telehealth applications and to determine the demographic factors that influence these experiences. Method: This descriptive study was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 150 parents. Data were collected using the "Parent Information Form" which was developed by the researchers and refined through expert opinion. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analyses were used to analyze the data. Results: It was found that the majority of parents were knowledgeable about telehealth applications (55.9%), had used these services at least once (96.7%), and generally found them beneficial (66.0%). The most common purposes for use were making appointments, checking test results, and receiving medical consultations. Most participants believed that telehealth provides advantages in terms of cost and distance (71.3%) and improves access to healthcare services (68.0%). However, concerns remained regarding tele-surgery (37.3% disagreed), privacy (34.7% undecided), and patient–physician interaction (51.3% undecided). Logistic regression analyses showed that demographic variables such as age, gender, and educational level did not have a statistically significant effect on the use of telehealth services (p>0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that parents frequently use telehealth applications for themselves and their children, consider them beneficial, and are satisfied with these services. However, it was found that demographic characteristics did not significantly predict the use of telehealth applications. These results are important for guiding future implementations and shaping health policies.
