Analysis of Potential Learning Outcomes Related to Sexual Education and Protection from Abuse in the Preschool Special Education Program

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study is to to examine the achievements that may be related to the areas of sexual education and protection against sexual abuse within the developmental characteristics and achievements targeted to be gained in the Preschool Special Education Curriculum for Individuals in Need of Special Education (37-78 Months) published by the Ministry of National Education in 2018. . This study is descriptive in nature. Document analysis method was used to collect data in the study. Within the scope of the Ministry of National Education (2018) Preschool Special Education Curriculum for Individuals in Need of Special Education (37-78 Months), the aims and importance of preschool special education, introduction of preschool special education program, basic principles, achievements and indicators, planning and implementation in preschool special education, and evaluation sections were examined. . The facts obtained as a result of the review were analyzed using content analysis. In the examined program, it is thought that there are achievements that can be used indirectly, if not directly, for sexual education. As a result of the evaluation, 2 main themes and 6 sub-themes were reached as findings. It was found that the inclusion of achievements on issues such as gender identity, body recognition and privacy in the program supports children to develop awareness and skills related to these critical issues at an early age, that the achievements made in these areas are important in terms of providing a safe environment, and that the achievements presented on issues such as protection from sexual abuse and distinguishing the social environment contribute to to children's establishment of healthy boundaries and relationships at both individual and social levels.
