This study was planned to determine the frequency of proteinuria and hematuria associated with physical activities of football players. The study was conducted on the players (n=10) of Selçuk University football team. Fresh urinary samples from football players were taken before and after a 90 minutes match period and firstly protein reaction was investigated by reagent strip (Ames Multistix, Miles Ltd.), and then urinary samples were centrifuged at 1 500 rpm for 3 minutes and resulting sediments were examined directly under light microscope at x40 magnification for hematuria. Minumum of 3-4 erythrocytes on each area was accepted as significant. While no proteinuria and hematuria observed before the match in any of the players, after the match in 60 % and 80 % of the players proteinuria and hematuria were observed respectively. The findings of the study show that proteinuria and hematuria associated with physical activities occur in football players and hematuria frequency is higher than that of proteinuria.
