THE EFFECT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN SMES: A RESEARCH IN ORGANIZED INDUSTRIAL ZONES IN KONYA
Abstract
The new possibilities coming along with information technologies reshape the
social and economic structure by changing the production and consumption mechanisms
and developing the techniques and criteria of the economic activities. In this process,
small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are obliged to be tech-savvy to increase their
competitive power by making technology transfers and focusing on R&D activities. In
this context, companies adapting information technologies (IT) to their internal processes
can benefit from creating new goods and services, new business ways and new working
systems.
In this study, the effects of information technologies used by export oriented
SMEs on their organizational performance are investigated. In this context, the concept of
SME, the concept of IT and its components and the term of performance and its
dimensions are elaborated. In the final part of the study, the effects of information
technologies used by export oriented small and medium sized enterprises on the
organizational performance are analyzed by a practical study on the organized industrial
zones in Konya and the findings are discussed. According to the results, it is observed that
the use of IT has a positive effect on the organizational performance.

KOBİ’LERDE KULLANILAN BİLİŞİM TEKNOLOJİLERİNİN ÖRGÜTSEL PERFORMANSA ETKİLERİ: KONYA ORGANİZE SANAYİ BÖLGELERİNDE BİR ARAŞTIRMA
Abstract
Bilişim teknolojilerinin (BT) sunduğu yeni olanaklar, üretim ve tüketim mekanizmalarını değiştirerek ve ekonomik faaliyetlerde kullanılan teknik ve ölçütleri geliştirerek toplumsal ve ekonomik yapıyı da hızla yeniden biçimlendirmektedir. Bu süreçte, KOBİ’lerin rekabet güçlerini geliştirmek için teknolojik gelişmeleri yakından takip etmeleri, bunun için de teknoloji transferi ya da araştırma-geliştirme faaliyetlerine ağırlık vermeleri zorunluluk arz etmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bilişim teknolojilerini kurum içi süreçlerine adapte edebilen işletmeler; yeni ürün ve hizmetlerin, yeni iş yollarının, yeni çalışma sistemlerinin ve yeni bilgi edinme yollarının yaratılması gibi faydalar elde edecektir. Bu çalışmada, bilişim teknolojilerinin ihracata yönelik olarak üretim yapan KOBİ’lerde kullanımı sonucu performanslarında ortaya çıkan etkiler araştırılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, KOBİ kavramı ve bu kavramın kapsamı; bilişim teknolojileri kavramı ve bu kavramın önemi ve unsurları; performans kavramı ve boyutlarına değinilmiştir. Çalışmanın son bölümünde, Konya Organize Sanayi Bölgelerinde ihracata yönelik olarak üretim yapmakta olan KOBİ’lerde kullanılan bilişim teknolojilerinin örgütsel performansa etkilerini belirlemeye yönelik olarak hazırlanmış olan anket çalışmasından elde edilen sonuçlar değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, bilişim teknolojileri kullanımının işletme performansını olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür.
