Sinemada Siyasal İktidar, İdeoloji ve Medya Üçgeni: Wag The Dog Filminin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Sosyal bilimciler kitle iletişim araçlarının 21. yüzyılın en önemli aygıtları olduğunu kabuletmektedirler. Bu aygıtlardan sinema, uluslararası kapsamda birçok insana ulaşabilmesi bakımındanhayati bir öneme sahiptir. Sinemanın insanları etkileme gücünün farkında olan hükümet,devlet, kişi ya da gruplar, sinemayı ideolojik anlamda kendi fikirlerini dayatmak içinkullanmaktadırlar. Özellikle her filmin ideolojik bir mesajının olduğunu bilen yapımcılar ya dayönetmenler, devlet ve medya arasındaki ilişkileri konu alan filmler de üretmeye başlamışlardır.Kitle iletişim araçlarını kontrol eden ya da kullanan medya bazı bilim adamlarına göreyasama, yürütme ve yargıdan sonra dördüncü güç olarak kabul edilmektedir. Gelişen teknolojive imkânlarla hükümet ya da devletler medyayı çeşitli amaçlar için kullanma yoluna gitmişlerdir.Bu bağlamda araştırmada, Wag The Dog ( Başkanın Adamları) filmindeki iktidar, ideoloji vemedya üçgeninde gelişen olaylar incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışmada iktidar ve medya arasındakiilişki, sinemada ideoloji kavramı ve iktidarın sinemayı nasıl kullandığı ele alınmıştır. Özelliklekonusu medya ve iktidar ilişkileri olan Wag The Dog filminin ideolojik çözümleme yöntemi ileanalizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda medya ve iktidar ilişkisinde medyanın güçlü ve etkilibir araç olduğu, ancak son sözü iktidarın söylediği ortaya çıkmıştır.

Government - Ideology and Media Triangle in Film: Review of The Film Wag The Dog

Abstract

Social scientists regard the mass media tools as the most important instruments of the 21.st century. Among those instruments, cinema has vital importance since it reaches to numerous people in the international content. The government, state, individuals or groups who are aware of the effecting power of cinema on people use cinema in order to impose their ideas upon people in the ideological manner. Especially, the producers and directors who are aware that every film has an ideological message have started to produce films drawing attention to the relationship between state and media. According to some scientists who control or use the media tools regard media as the fourth power right after executive, legislative and judicial powers. Through developing technologies and opportunities, governments or states have used the media for numerous purposes.In this study within this context, the event which develop within the triple of government, ideology and media in the film Wag the Dog (The President’s Men). In the study, the relationship between the government and media, the concept of ideology in the cinema and the way which government uses cinema has been discussed. Especially, the film Wag the Dog which deals with the relations between media and government has been analyzed through ideological analysis method. The study revealed that although the media was powerful and influential in the media-government relationship, the last word had the government
