A TEXT OF ‘ORAL HUMOUR TRADITION’ FROM OTTOMAN PERIOD: DA‘VÂ-YI TUYÛR
Abstract
To understand todays Turkish oral humour tradition and to transfer this tradition to future, we have to know how this tradition changed and transformed in historical process. Therefore, in this study we are going to study on Dava-yı Tuyur which was qualified as ‚humour‛ by Agâh Sırrı Levend. Firstly, the elements which contains the humour will be determined to understand the texts’ humour characteristic. Then, this texts place in Turkish Oral humour tradition will be identified by using conks, mecmuas and litographic texts. In this study Dava-yı Tuyur will be introduced and Dava-yı Tuyur’s importance in humour literature will be explained.
