Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) Populations in Seasonal Color Change with the Same Environmental Conditions Collected from Different Locations

Abstract

In 2006, for use in breeding Perennial ryegrass, Ankara, Konya, Eskisehir, Afyon, Karaman, Aksaray, Mersin and Antalya provinces within the scope of the natural flora TUBITAK 106O159 project number plants were collected from 54 locations. Observations of this plant (population) began in the fall of 2007 and were completed in the spring of 2009. The obtained data were analyzed statistically. According to analysis results; population averages and season x population interaction p <0.01 level were significant. Color retention in the average population in terms of scale values 4.2 (P43) and 5.0 (P31, P55) ranged. Averages of seasonal color change in populations of Perennial ryegrass used in this study examined were found to be more green in spring. In contrast scale values were lower than during other seasons. However, the first year in the spring, with green features of the high population while preserving this property continued in the second year
