This study was carried out in persimmon orchards and second crop maize fields of Adana, Mersin and Osmaniye provinces in 2010-2011. In this study, it was aimed to determine the prevalence and damage of Honeydew moth [Cryptoblabes gnidiella Mill. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)] on maize and persimmon. To determine the prevalence of C. gnidiella, samplings were collected from persimmon and maize areas with no periodic survey studies in between August and November months that the pest population is high. Damage type of C. gnidiella was determined by larvae feeding on persimmon fruits and corncob. End of the study, it was determined that C. gnidiella is infested different rates in most maize areas of specially plain part of Adana, Mersin and Osmaniye provinces, Büyükmangıt district (Ceyhan/Adana), Pekmezci and Kuyuluk villages (Kozan/Adana), Alata Horticultural Research Station’s orchard (Erdemli/Mersin) with Turunçlu and Karahacılı villages (Mersin) persimmon orchards, specially neighbor with pomegranate and citrus orchards. Also, it was determined that C. gnidiella feeds on petals and fruit pulp 0.5 cm deep by opening tunnels and then decomposition and rotting becomes on those tissues because of air entrance and Carpophilus spp. feeding while it is harmful on corncob by feeding. C. gnidiella mostly feeds on kernels of corncob and joint slip knots each other by a net during its feeding.
