The reason that requires this work, for us, is various translations of the noun phrase “The Lord of Falaq / ربّ الفلق” in Qur’an translations. The mentioned phrase is usually translated as ‘The lord of morning’ in Qur’an tranlations in our country. But the situation is different in some early and recent translations. Because in these translations, the lexical meaning of the word “f-l-q /فلق “ as ‘crack/creation’ has been put forward and to give that meaning is more accurate approach in our opi-nion. It can be said this approach leads to a contraction of meaning, partly. We think this contraction can be taken away by examining the phrase “f-l-q /فلق” in terms of the internal integrity of the Qur’an or in its classical expression “the interpretation of the Qur’an with the Qur’an”. In this study, we will firstly refer to the basic and classical lexicons, and then the first examples of the literature of Garib al-Qur'an and Maani al-Qur’an to analyze the dictionary meaning of the word “f-l-k / فلق “. And then we will apply to classical tafsirs from the early period until today. Thus, we will have traced the word “f-l-k / فلق” in early lexicons, Ulum al-Qur'an sources and basic tafsîr sources. Finally, we will present a selec-tion of maals (translations of Qur’an) made in our country for the word f-l-k / فلق “, but we will not discuss their preferences. Instead of that, we will make our own assessment and present our preference with the approach ‘the interpretation of the Qur’an with the Qur’an’ as well as considiring the meaning given to the phrase “Lord of Felak / ربّ الفلق” in tafsir literature.
