Abstract

Kültür ve medeniyetimizin önde gelen iz sürücülerinden Ahmet Süheyl Ünver; kültür, tarih, sanat, din, edebiyat ve tıp gibi birçok alanın ilgilisi olmuş; ömrünü, Türk toplumunu inşa eden maddi ve manevi değerleri bir alana bağlı kalmaksızın bütün yönleriyle merceği altına alarak tetkike adamıştır. Ünver’in bu çok yönlü araştırmacı ve gözlemci kimliğinin en iyi tezahür ettiği mekânlardan biri de Köprülü Kütüphanesi olmuştur. "Nasıl ki arşivlerde bulunan vesikalar tarihî birçok noktaları tenvir ediyorsa bu kitaplardaki kayıtlar ilimler, tıp ve felsefe tarihlerini ve bilhassa umumî Türk tarihini alakadar edecek mahiyettedir.” düşüncesine sahip olan Süheyl Ünver, bu doğrultuda nazarını Köprülü Kütüphanesi yazmalarındaki metin harici notlara çevirmiş; bu notları konularına göre tasnif ederek kendi ifadesiyle “Hiç Yoktan Bir Eser” vücuda getirmiştir.

The Mystery of the Köprülü Library

Abstract

Ahmet Süheyl Ünver, one of the foremost intellectual explorers of Turkish culture and civilization, engaged deeply with a wide range of disciplines, including culture, history, art, religion, literature, and medicine. He devoted his life to the meticulous investigation of the material and spiritual values that have shaped Turkish society, approaching them from multiple perspectives and without confining himself to a single field. One of the most significant spaces in which Ünver’s multifaceted identity as a scholar and observer found its most profound expression was the Köprülü Library.
Believing that "just as the documents found in archives shed light on many historical points, the notes in these books are of a nature that concern the histories of sciences, medicine, and philosophy—and especially the general history of the Turks," Süheyl Ünver turned his attention to the marginal notes in the manuscripts housed in the Köprülü Library. By classifying these notes according to their subjects, he created—using his own words—"A Work Out of Nothing."
