The Turkish Society for History of Science (TBTK) is one of the non-profit institutions in Turkey which has been conducting research on the history of science, technology and medicine since 1989. The society which has its premises at the Yıldız Palace in Istanbul is one of the important centers for the history of science in Turkey. As the first and only organization of civil society in its field, it was established officially on 29 June 1989 through the initiatives of Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu with the gathering of a group of Turkish academicians specialized in the history of mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, medicine and pharmacology. It has the right and privilege of representing Turkey internationally in its field of activity.
